Why I do what I do…
Throughout my career, I have gained much experience through many different events. I have traveled the world doing events, sometimes in cities where I did not know the language and had to just wing it. I have traveled the country doing events, some of them high profile Red Carpet events, others were Action Sport competitions at State Fairs. Heck, sometimes I’ve traveled just outside my front door to coordinate holiday parties for neighbors and friends. I mean, doesn’t everyone plan Christmas parties that involve actual snow and sledding on a 60 degree day in LA?!
No matter the size of the event, I can honestly say that I put my all in to each and every event I do. Why, you may ask? Because I know that at the end of the day, many people are counting on me to create an event that meets, and possibly exceeds, their expectations. And I want to make sure that is what is delivered!
When I left the city of Los Angeles over two years ago and picked up to move to the amazing island called St. John, many people in my life gave me their 2 cents. Some were nervous about my big move (Dad!), some were excited for me…many were envious…their words, not mine! Some jokingly sang me a famous Tina Turner song…”Left a good job in the city…working for the man every night and day….”
When I got started on St. John, switching to planning weddings from corporate events was an easy transition for me to make mainly because of my extensive experience with corporate events. It has been a great adventure. Working with couples to make sure that their wedding day is everything that they have dreamed of is an honor. Meeting the many friends and family that venture to this beautiful island to celebrate with them is an added bonus.
Over the past two years, I have learned a many things about myself and my capabilities. I have learned that when I set a goal for myself, the only person responsible for meeting that goal is me. The support of those around me has been an amazing encouragement that has helped me immensely. It is that support that is helping Paradise Planning get to the next level.
Many people have asked me “do you like what you do for a living?” The answer is very simple. I LOVE what I do for a living. I absolutely love it! 🙂
